A very eventful history

Invasions, destructions, sieges... The history of Landrecies looks like an endless battle. Whoever manages to dominate the town gets an easy access to the Sambre river as well, and that's why so many conflicts have focussed on this little place from the Middle Ages. This particularly strategical situation gave birth to the very complicated Landrecian history : this little town has already been Belgian, German, English, Burgundian, Austrian, Spanish and finally French ! Not bad, huh ?  In this section you may read all about the Landrecian history from beginning to end, or you may just click on the period you feel mostly interested in. There is also a chronological summary for those of you who are in a hurry.
