This building has been turned into a retirement
home only recently, and it has a very eventful history. It already existed in
1830 and it served as an arsenal. Then it became a military hospital.
The ramparts of Landrecies were destroyed at the
end of the 19th century, which weakened the military tradition of the town.
Therefore the hospital was closed and in 1930 the building became the local
police station instead. It was named "Pavillon Foch"
(i.e Foch's House) the same year.
Pavillon Foch only
became Landrecies retirement home in 1990. As regards the police station, it
moved to a new building across the street.
