The Lower Town Barracks was called "Saint-Charles"
until the French revolution. Then it was named after Henri Clarke, a man who was
born in Landrecies and who became a very important minister under Napoleon and
Louis XVIII. This barracks specialized itself in cavalry because of its little
park where horsemen could easily train. Today this building is completely
disused, but remains here as a testitomy of the heavy Landrecian military legacy.
